The Enugu State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to armed robbery and cultism, recovering firearms, a motorcycle, and other incriminating items during operations across the state.

Police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement issued late Tuesday, noting that the arrests were part of the Command’s sustained clampdown on violent crimes.

The suspects include 28-year-old Okafor Chukwuka, arrested on August 20 with a locally made double-barrel gun; and 45-year-old Emeka Odo alongside 35-year-old Ugochukwu Eze, apprehended on August 18 with stolen goods and firearms.

“Preliminary investigations link Okafor to an armed robbery incident that occurred in Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East LGA, about two weeks earlier, during which a motorcycle was snatched at gunpoint,” Ndukwe revealed.

He added that Odo confessed to robbing a motorcyclist and selling the stolen motorcycle to Eze. Items recovered during the operations include a motorcycle, firearms, live cartridges, and suspected charms.

Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, commended the operatives for their efforts and urged them to sustain the momentum. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements, stressing the importance of community support.

“The Command is determined to sustain its efforts in combating crime and will not relent in making Enugu State safe for all law-abiding residents,” Giwa said, adding that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
