POLICE ARREST FOUR SUSPECTED CULTISTS AFTER CLASH IN ANAMBRA COMMUNITY

The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended four alleged cultists following a violent altercation in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area. The operation was executed in partnership with the local vigilante organization.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reported that the suspects were observed assaulting each other with machetes, broken glass, blades, and various other lethal instruments behind Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.

According to him, a prompt intervention by a joint Police/Vigilante team culminated in the capture of the suspects, while others fled into the wooded area.

Ikenga revealed that one of the suspects, David Chukwuma, incurred machete wounds during the confrontation. He has since received medical treatment and is making progress in his recovery.

“The suspects have all admitted to being affiliated with the notorious AYES confraternity. The matter is currently under investigation, and efforts are underway to apprehend the individuals who fled,” he stated.

In the meantime, the State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, assured residents that the Command remains devoted to combating cultism and other forms of violent offenses in Anambra.
