Estevao scored a dramatic 95th-minute winner to hand Chelsea a 2-1 victory over Liverpool, condemning the Reds to a third straight defeat across all competitions.
Liverpool, hoping to recover from back-to-back losses to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, were seeking to reclaim momentum after losing top spot in the Premier League to Arsenal, who beat West Ham on Saturday.
However, their hopes were dashed when Brazilian teenager Estevao struck deep into stoppage time, sparking jubilant celebrations at Stamford Bridge.
Head coach Enzo Maresca was shown a red card for sprinting down the touchline to celebrate with his players.
Chelsea had taken the lead in the 14th minute when Moises Caicedo unleashed a thunderous strike from the edge of the box that flew into the top-left corner.
Liverpool equalised in the 63rd minute as Cody Gakpo pounced on a loose ball after Alexander Isak’s touch redirected Dominik Szoboszlai’s cross into his path.
Chelsea dominated the first half but endured a shaky start to the second, losing both Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong to injury.
Florian Wirtz’s introduction briefly lifted Liverpool, but Chelsea finished the stronger side.
Substitutes Jamie Gittens and Estevao both forced stand-in goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili — deputising for the injured Alisson — into key saves, while the Georgian also tipped over another long-range effort from Caicedo.
Enzo Fernandez came close to restoring Chelsea’s lead, heading Estevao’s cross against the outside of the post.
But the 17-year-old Brazilian made no mistake moments later, slotting home Marc Cucurella’s low cross to secure Chelsea’s first league win in four matches.
