KANO LAWMAKER ABDULMUMIN JIBRIN REJOINS APC, ENDORSES TINUBU’S 2027 RE-ELECTION BID
Kano lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his full support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election ambition.
Jibrin, a former member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), announced his return to the APC during an event in Kano, describing his decision as a homecoming and a reaffirmation of his long-standing political ties with the ruling party.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to national development, saying the administration had laid a solid foundation for economic recovery and political stability.
“I am back home to contribute my quota to the progress of our great party and to support President Tinubu’s vision for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” Jibrin said.
Jibrin’s defection comes as the APC intensifies its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections. His return is seen as a significant boost to the party’s structure in Kano State — a key political battleground in the North-West.
Party officials in the state welcomed Jibrin’s decision, describing it as timely and strategic. They said his experience and influence would strengthen the APC’s hold in the region and enhance its chances in the next polls.
Jibrin, a former Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), played a major role in President Tinubu’s 2023 campaign before leaving the APC for the NNPP. His return, analysts say, could reshape political alliances in Kano and consolidate Tinubu’s northern support base ahead of 2027.
The lawmaker is expected to be officially received by the APC leadership in an upcoming ceremony as he resumes active participation in party activities.
