The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has issued a strict compliance deadline of Monday, November 10, 2025, to the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) over the union’s non-adherence to the E-Call Up operational guidelines.

Osiyemi, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olawale Musa, summoned NUPENG officials to an emergency meeting held on Thursday at the Ministry of Transportation’s Conference Room, Alausa, Ikeja.

The session focused on NUPENG’s disregard for the online truck booking system, which has allegedly led to illegal cash collections and indiscriminate parking of petroleum tankers across major corridors, particularly the Lekki-Epe axis, causing congestion and operational inefficiencies.

Reiterating the process, the Commissioner emphasised that all trucks are required to undergo validation and clearance before accessing designated parks, a procedure NUPENG has reportedly been sidestepping.

“This disregard for due process is unacceptable. We cannot allow any group to disrupt traffic flow or undermine the integrity of our transport management systems,” Osiyemi warned.

He directed NUPENG to immediately align its operations with the E-Call Up guidelines, adding that enforcement measures would commence after the deadline against any violators.

Responding, NUPENG representatives pledged to sensitise their members and address the operational lapses raised during the meeting.

Also in attendance were officials of the E-Call Up System and senior management staff of the Ministry of Transportation.
