An alumnus of the U.S. Army War College, Lagbaja is survived by his wife, Mariya, and their two children.
The current Army Chief, Lieutenant General Shaibu, who assumed command on October 30, 2025, as the 25th Chief of Army Staff, described his predecessor as “a dedicated soldier whose legacy of discipline and service will continue to inspire generations of officers.”
He also extended an open invitation to the public to join in the memorial activities in celebration of Lagbaja’s life and contributions to the Nigerian Army.
