Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State have arrested two men for allegedly vandalising and stealing 300 metres of aluminium conductor cable in Yunfawa village, located in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

The command also confirmed the arrest of an 18-year-old suspected tricycle thief, Abdullahi Aminu, from Unguwar Dabai in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

The command’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Friday.

According to the statement, the two vandalism suspects — Adamu Ibrahim, 25, and Abba Ado, 24 — both residents of Roba in Dawakin Tofa LGA, were apprehended shortly after allegedly damaging and stealing the electricity cables belonging to KEDCO.

Abdullahi explained that on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m., the suspects reportedly climbed electricity poles in Yunfawa village and vandalised approximately 300 metres of conductor cables.

He said the pair were intercepted by security operatives while attempting to move the stolen cables and were subsequently taken to the NSCDC office for investigation.

Following interrogation at the corps’ state headquarters in Kano, the suspects reportedly confessed to the offence and revealed that another accomplice involved in the operation remains at large.

In a separate incident, NSCDC personnel on routine patrol along the Kofar Waika/Kofar Dawanau dual carriageway arrested Aminu for allegedly attempting to steal a tricycle.

The statement said the suspect forcefully entered a parked tricycle on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, while a female passenger was inside and the rider had briefly stepped away to deliver a dispatch.

Aminu allegedly drove off recklessly with the passenger still onboard, but after the victim raised an alarm, patrol officers from the Dala Division pursued and arrested him, while rescuing the passenger unharmed.

The NSCDC said all three suspects remain in custody and would be charged in court for prosecution.

The corps also recalled that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrested two suspected vandals in Nasarawa State in April following credible intelligence about illegal activities in the area.
