A deep sense of mourning has engulfed Ogudu following the death of the community’s traditional ruler, Oba Nojeemdeen Fashola.
Palace sources said the first-class monarch passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday at his residence in Ogudu.
While details surrounding his death were not officially disclosed, the palace confirmed that he “departed this world in peace.” His passing has thrown the Ogudu community in Kosofe Local Government Area into mourning, as residents, chiefs, and sympathisers continue to pay tribute to a leader widely admired for his humility, wisdom, and leadership.
In accordance with Yoruba tradition, several social and commercial activities, including market operations, were scaled down in honour of the late monarch.
Oba Fashola ascended the throne about four years ago and was regarded as a symbol of unity, peace, and cultural preservation in Ogudu land. During his reign, he was noted for his calm disposition, accessibility, and dedication to the development and welfare of his people.
