The Executive of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, on Wednesday, delivered a N914 billion financial plan for the 2026 fiscal period to the state House of Assembly.

As per the executive, the financial plan’s dissection encompasses a recurrent constituent of N341 billion (37.32%) and a capital constituent of N573 billion (62.68%).

Mutfwang conveyed that the financial plan is devised to serve the populace of Plateau State honestly and without concession, emphasizing citizen-centered projects and initiatives.

The Executive stated, “Having emphasized the 2025 performance, it is my sole honor and privilege to present to this Esteemed House the 2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework/Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) alongside the 2026 suggested financial plan estimation for your deliberation and ratification.

“This financial plan, labeled “Financial Plan of Consolidation and Sustainability 2.0”, is proposed amid our ongoing accentuation and complete dedication to implementing citizen-centered projects and initiatives within the state.

“The total financial plan amounts to Nine Hundred and Fourteen Billion, Eight Hundred and Sixty-Three Million, Four Hundred and Twenty-Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy-One Naira (₦914,863,422,871.00) only.

“The suggested financial plan is to be generated from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Government share of FAAC, aids, grants, and the Capital Development Fund (CDF). ”

The executive underscored principal areas of emphasis, encompassing agriculture and rural advancement, mining and mineral development, industry, trade, investment, and tourism, health, education, and infrastructure advancement.

He accentuated the administration’s commitment to establishing a tranquil and thriving Plateau State, utilizing the state’s strategic advancement framework and three-pillar policy of peace, security, and sound governance; enduring economic renaissance; and physical infrastructure advancement.

Mutfwang observed that the financial plan manifests an increase of N306 billion over the approved 2025 financial plan, with sectoral allocations encompassing administration (N125 billion), economic (N232 billion), law and justice (N21 billion), and social services (N119 billion).

The executive beseeched the House of Assembly to deliberate upon and approve the financial plan promptly, facilitating the administration to commence execution in a timely manner and conveyed appreciation to the legislature for their ongoing backing and collaboration in upholding democratic stability and ensuring the seamless execution of the state’s developmental agenda.

The Speaker of the state Assembly, Daniel Naalong, assured the executive of the prompt enactment of the bill into law.

The media reports in 2024 that Mutfwang presented a N471bn financial plan proposal for 2025 to the state House of Assembly for deliberation and ratification. The financial plan allocates N201,522,433,264 (43.46%) for recurrent expenditure and N258,852,660,277 (56.54%) for capital expenditure, reflecting a strategic concentration on expansion and development.
