COMPANIES DONATE LEARNING MATERIALS TO BOOST EDUCATION IN OGUN SCHOOLS
JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation have contributed 13,500 60-leaf exercise books, 500 chairs, 250 desks, and 200 cartons of Geisha fish to educational institutions in Ogun State.
The items were unveiled at a ceremony conducted at the headquarters of the State Universal Basic Education Board in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
During the event, the Managing Director of the food corporation, Mr. Akira Yano, articulated that the donation aligns with the organization’s robust commitment to fostering the advancement of the educational sector.
He expressed confidence that the educational resources and food items would further enhance students’ dedication to their studies.
Yano stated, “Kawasho Foods has a profound interest in education, as we believe it has a beneficial association with economic growth and development. ”
Upon receiving the contributions, the Chairman of Ogun SUBEB, Joshua Ifede, encouraged students throughout the state to prioritize their education, eliminate distractions, and aspire to establish a reputable future.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to continuing collaboration with corporate entities and civic-minded individuals to enhance educational development in the region.
Ifede commended the food company for its focus on investing in education, which he referred to as the nation’s future.
Ifede remarked, “This generous donation extends well beyond mere material provision; it signifies a concrete investment in the future of our children, who are the leaders of tomorrow.
“It is particularly noteworthy that this marks the eighth consecutive intervention by JFE Shoji Corporation and Kawasho Foods Corporation in support of Ogun SUBEB.
“This consistency and sustained engagement clearly demonstrate our partners’ authentic passion for education and their unwavering belief in community development through intentional action. ”
“The organization has not only supplied furniture and educational materials but has also uplifted the morale of educators, inspired learners, and revived hope in the quest for knowledge across schools in the state.
He urged the students to take full advantage of the donation, ensuring the proper care and utilization of the provided books and furniture.
“To our esteemed pupils, I encourage you to make the most of these resources. Treat your books and furniture with care, study diligently, and continue to bring pride to your parents, teachers, and Ogun State,” Ifede added.
A 2023 UNICEF report indicates that Nigeria’s educational system is confronted with challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, underqualified teachers, and a deficiency of basic skills among students, which contribute to low literacy rates and poor global rankings in educational quality.
