The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has called on residents to embrace unity, love and shared commitment to development as he marked his administration’s first Christmas in office.
In a Christmas message to the people of Ikeja, Dauda expressed gratitude to God for guidance and protection over the local government and thanked residents for their support since his assumption of office.
Describing the season as a moment of reflection, the chairman acknowledged the role of residents’ ideas, expectations and trust in shaping his administration’s vision, noting that the I.K.E.J.A Agenda was developed as a people-driven roadmap aimed at promoting inclusive governance and sustainable development.
Dauda said his administration had been working tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in it, adding that although much work remained, modest but meaningful progress had been recorded in service delivery, community engagement and laying foundations for long-term prosperity.
Highlighting steps taken to promote inclusivity during the festive season, the chairman said the administration deliberately improved on previous Christmas welfare gestures by quadrupling what party members traditionally received and extending support to all stakeholders for the first time.
According to him, the move reflected the administration’s belief in fairness, unity and progressive values, stressing that bringing everyone together under a common umbrella would remain a guiding principle of his leadership.
Dauda said the Christmas season served as a reminder of love, sacrifice and togetherness, reaffirming his commitment to compassionate governance and responsive leadership.
He prayed for joy, peace and renewed strength for residents and expressed optimism that, with unity of purpose, Ikeja would continue on a path of growth and development.
The chairman concluded by wishing residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, assuring them that better days lie ahead for Ikeja Local Government.
