SUSPECTED CULTISTS MURDER RIVERS YOUTH LEADER AND AIDE

The President of the Omoku Youth Federation in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Azuazu, has been reportedly killed by suspected cultists.
Sources told the media that the assailants allegedly beheaded Azuazu and also murdered his aide, Chigozie Oluwu.
According to the accounts, the incident occurred at about 6 p.m. on Thursday when roughly seven attackers invaded a popular drinking spot along Ogolo Street, off Palace Road, in Omoku town.
A resident said the suspects arrived in two vehicles, confronted the youth leader, and ordered him to enter one of the cars.
“His aide, Oluwu, attempted to intervene and was immediately shot dead. The gunmen then abducted Azuazu and drove him to an unknown location,” the resident said.
The media gathered that the attack caused panic among residents and passersby, with many fleeing for safety while business owners hurriedly closed their shops.
A viral video showed local youths assisting police and other security personnel in placing Oluwu’s body into an open patrol van.
The headless body of Azuazu was later found in the bush on Friday afternoon by members of a local vigilante group.
The ONELGA Security and Planning Advisory Committee confirmed the killings. Its Public Relations Officer, Godnews Nkem, said Chigozie was shot dead by the attackers before they abducted Ifeanyi Azuazu.
“Following intelligence reports and the proactive efforts of OSPAC operatives, the lifeless and headless body of Ifeanyi Azuazu was recovered from the bush,” Nkem stated.
Condemning the attack, OSPAC urged residents to remain calm and allow the police, the Department of State Services, and other security agencies to conduct thorough investigations.
The Rivers State Police Command also confirmed the incident. Its spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, described the attack as cult-related.
“Yes, I can confirm the incident. It was cult-related. The assailants invaded the area, shot one person dead, and abducted the youth leader. Sadly, his headless body was discovered today (Friday). The Commissioner of Police has directed a comprehensive investigation to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice,” she said.
