The management of Kwara State University (KWASU) has revoked the admission of underage students for the 2024/2025 academic session, following a meeting of the university’s top management led by the Vice-Chancellor.

The decision was taken after it was discovered that the affected students were not granted official admission by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), making them ineligible to continue their academic programmes at the institution.

Sources within the university revealed that more than 150 students are affected by the decision, including some currently in their 200 level, a development that has sparked concern and distress among students and parents.

According to the management, the admissions of the underage students have been formally revoked, as the university cannot regularise their status without JAMB approval.

KWASU authorities advised the affected students to explore alternative options, including sitting for a fresh Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), applying through the Direct Entry (DE) mode, or enrolling in the university’s Diploma programme as a pathway to future admission.

The development has generated anxiety among families, particularly for students who have already spent years in the system and were approaching the advanced stages of their studies.
