The spokesperson for the Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has declared his intention to unseat the member representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke, in the 2027 general election.

Olajengbesi, who is the Accord Party’s candidate for the federal constituency, said the outcome of the recently concluded Osun State governorship election had strengthened his resolve to challenge Oke.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the lawyer and activist claimed that the Accord Party defeated the All Progressives Congress in the combined results from the two local government areas that make up the constituency.

According to him, Accord polled 21,343 votes against APC’s 14,863 votes in Oriade Local Government Area, while it recorded 12,023 votes against APC’s 16,120 in Obokun.

He said the combined figures gave Accord 33,366 votes, compared with APC’s 30,983, representing a margin of 2,383 votes.

“I defeated Oluwole Oke in the Osun governorship election,” Olajengbesi said, arguing that the results demonstrated the electorate’s readiness for political change ahead of 2027.

Oke, a member of the APC, has represented Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives since 2003.

Olajengbesi described his candidacy as an attempt to challenge what he termed prolonged political dominance in the constituency and introduce fresh representation at the National Assembly.

“My ambition rests on several strategic arguments, shifting political dynamics, and grassroots narratives. I’m a necessary intervention against political monopoly,” he said.

He argued that Oke’s long tenure had resulted in what he described as “stagnant ideas” and had stifled the growth of the constituency.

“A 24-year continuous recycling of leadership has stagnant ideas and stifled the growth of our constituency,” he added.

Olajengbesi’s declaration comes amid increasing political activities and early positioning by aspirants and political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He maintained that his objective was to end what he described as prolonged political dominance and provide what he called fresh and effective representation for constituents at the National Assembly.
