Momodu Urges Tinubu to Campaign on Performance Ahead of 2027 Election
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has urged President Bola Tinubu to present the achievements of his administration to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Momodu said the outcome of the election would largely depend on the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), rather than political rhetoric.
According to him, President Tinubu can secure another term if he convincingly demonstrates the impact of his administration, stressing that Nigerians are more concerned with performance than personalities.
Momodu also criticised APC supporters for attacking critics instead of highlighting the government’s accomplishments, urging them to focus on promoting the administration’s record.
He further faulted the ruling party for blaming its predecessor for the country’s current challenges, arguing that it was unusual for a governing party to continually criticise the administration it succeeded.
Questioning the government’s handling of national issues, Momodu said the President should explain the steps his administration has taken to improve the economy and the lives of Nigerians.
The media entrepreneur also commented on the long-running political differences between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Reacting to Obasanjo’s remark that choosing Atiku as his vice president was his greatest mistake, Momodu claimed the former president does not want Atiku to realise his presidential ambition.
Momodu’s comments come as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election, in which Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) are expected to contest the presidency.
