27-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING FATHER IN KATSINA

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, over the alleged killing of his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred on September 21, 2026, in Mundadu Village, where the deceased, a former Ward Head of the community, was reportedly found unconscious in front of his residence.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to Aliyu, the Bindawa Police Division received a distress call around noon from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, reporting that the elderly man had been found lying motionless outside his home.

Following the report, police detectives were dispatched to the village, while the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

However, medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival at the facility.

Aliyu said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, who allegedly confessed during questioning to hitting his father on the head with a stick.

According to the police, the alleged assault resulted in injuries that eventually led to the elderly man’s death.

Following the development, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The Command said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
