ANTHONY GORDON MISSES EVERTON TRAINING AGAIN AMID NEWCASTLE INTEREST
Anthony Gordon has informed Everton he has no intention of returning to his boyhood club in an effort to force a transfer to Newcastle United
High-flying Newcastle is interested in the 21-year-old winger, but Everton wants around £55 million for him. Despite the fact that the first of these absences was planned, he has missed the previous three days of training at Everton’s Finch Farm facility.
The clubs are in formal talks but yet to agree a fee. Everton had hoped to bring in Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma on loan this week, but the Dutch international chose Tottenham instead despite completing a medical on Merseyside.
Chelsea were also interested in Gordon last summer.
It was stated earlier this week that Newcastle and Everton were in official negotiations on a deal for Gordon. Gordon is valued by Everton at £55 million, which is more than Newcastle are willing to pay.
Gordon, who joined the team at the age of 11 after being released from Liverpool, has 18 months left on his current deal at Goodison Park.
Gordon has taken matters into his own hands and tried to push a deal with Newcastle over the line by not turning up to Everton training.
Gordon has missed three days of training this week. His absence on Tuesday is said to have been planned but his lack of attendance on Wednesday and Thursday remains unexplained.
