CRIME: POLICE ARREST EIGHT SUSPECTED ELECTRIC CABLE VANDALS IN LAGOS
Eight alleged electric cable vandals have been brought before the Lagos State Police Command, and they have been found with more than 100 meters of armored cable.
This was stated in a tweet posted on Friday, June 9, 2023, by the command.
According to the command, eight of the suspects were detained in Anthony Village, and one was detained near the Igbo Efon axis in Lagos State at about 9 p.m. on June 1, 2023, together with more than 100 meters of armored cable that was allegedly taken from a Lekki construction site.
The statement read, āOperatives of Lagos Rapid Response Squad have arrested eight suspected cable thieves and recovered over 100-metre-long armoured cable from one of the suspects in Igbo Efon, Lekki.
āSeven of the suspects were arrested at about 9:30 p.m. in Anthony Village, Lagos on June 1, 2023, when RRS operatives on patrol in the area accosted them while digging and shovelling the ground for armoured cable belonging to Ikeja Electric.
āThe suspects, Kamalu Mohammed āmā aged 32, Usman Lawal āmā aged 33, Ibrahim Salisu āmā aged 22, Hassan Salisu āmā aged 20, Zulkiful Sani āmā aged 23, Umar Haruna āmā ages 26 and Amadu Muazu āmā aged 22
āFurther investigation led to the arrest of the last suspect, Nasir Lawal āmā aged 30 with over 100-metres-long cable believed to have been stolen at a construction site around Igbo Efon, Lekki, Lagos.ā
