Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, is a controversial social media figure who was recently detained again in Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

At Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Bobrisky was stopped by immigration officials as he tried to board a KLM trip to London via Amsterdam. A top EFCC official claimed that Bobrisky’s re-arrest on Thursday night was due to his refusal to reply to several invitations from the EFCC about the accusations he made against the commission.

The EFCC source clarified that Bobrisky’s allegations included corruption and bribery, alleging that he paid N15 million to EFCC officers in order to get the money laundering charges against him dropped. The EFCC has refuted these claims, raising the possibility that Bobrisky will be charged with further false information.

“We apprehended him in Lagos, and he will be transported to Abuja,” the source disclosed. “He accused us of bribery and corruption, yet he repeatedly ignored our summons to substantiate these claims. Such serious allegations cannot be ignored. Furthermore, he has also declined to appear before the National Assembly on this matter. We had no option but to take him into custody to ensure he provides evidence to support his accusations.”

Bobrisky’s arrest was verified by EFCC Head of Media and Publicity Dele Oyewale, who declined to provide any information.

Bobrisky claimed in a recent Instagram post that he was arrested by EFCC authorities and that he was hurt in a fight with immigration officers.

If Bobrisky’s claims turn out to be unfounded, the EFCC has previously threatened to punish him for giving false information.
