BANDITS KIDNAP 100 PEOPLE IN ZAMFARA STATE
About 100 residents have been kidnapped by bandits who have targeted towns in Wanke, which is close to Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State.
Among them kidnapped was a Chief Imam.
According to a source, “This is the second time the Imam was abducted.”
Police and the state administration have not yet responded to the event.
In an interview, a victim informed the BBC Hausa Service that the impacted areas were under siege and that people were fleeing in fear of more strikes.
He added that more than fifty people had been taken away from the area around Sabon Layi, and another fifty people had been kidnapped from the area around Dagon Hayi.
They were still counting the missing, he said, adding that some residents were so terrified that they fled for their lives.
He continued by saying that it was a really unsettling scene to watch people being driven from their homes by terrorists who were pursuing them like they were pursuing animals.
He claimed that the bandits were pursuing the individuals on motorcycles, emphasizing that they tracked down women and took them to their homes. Some of them were even caught in the act of fleeing and herded into the bush like animals.
