Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo State, gave the state House of Assembly a budget proposal for 2025 on Tuesday, totaling N655.230 billion.

Known as the “Budget of Recovery,” the proposed budget allots N406.307 billion for capital projects and N248.92 billion for ongoing expenses.

Assuring the Assembly that his government would be dedicated to its effective implementation, Governor Aiyedatiwa asked the body to carefully study the 2025 budget plan while presenting it to the members.

The governor clarified that it is anticipated that the state’s revenue will rise in 2025 compared to 2024 after carefully examining a number of economic indicators and assumptions. The suggested budget for the next fiscal year is therefore N655.230 billion.

“Mr. Speaker, distinguished honourable members, we have aptly named the 2025 budget the ‘Budget of Recovery.’ Our commitment to improving the quality of life for our people remains unwavering.

“This aligns with our campaign promise during the recently concluded Ondo State governorship election on November 16, 2024, where we secured an unprecedented victory across all 18 local government areas of the state,” he stated.

He added, “We are resolute in our determination to harness the economic reform agenda of the Federal Government as encapsulated in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, along with the tremendous goodwill and entrepreneurial spirit of our people. Our goal is to drive a meaningful economic upturn in the new year.”

Mr. Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Assembly, praised Aiyedatiwa’s accomplishments in his speech, citing them as a major factor in his overwhelming electoral victory.

He promised that the budget would be carefully examined to make sure it had a beneficial effect on all citizens.
