JUST IN: PETROL-LADEN TANKER EXPLODES ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

A tanker carrying petroleum products fell and exploded along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing significant traffic disruption.

The incident was confirmed by the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), which stated the explosion occurred near the NASFAT U-turn on the highway.

Florence Okpe, the Education Officer of the sector command, said FRSC and fire service personnel were already at the scene, although casualty details were not yet available.

Several vehicles near the fallen tanker were also affected by the explosion.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed that the explosion happened on the outbound Lagos lane, leading to heavy traffic congestion.

TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi said in a statement, “A fallen laden tanker at NASFAT turning outbound Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has exploded, traffic seriously affected, fire services contacted, motorists coming from Lagos diverted through Christ Embassy camp. TRACE, FRSC, and the police are on the ground monitoring the situation.”
