Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has conferred upon Super Falcons coach, Justin Madugu, a three-bedroom bungalow and N50 million in recognition of his contributions to guiding the national women’s football team to triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The ceremony occurred at the Government House in Yola, the capital city of the state, as communicated in a Facebook update by the governor’s assistant, Pius Iliya.

Madugu, an indigene of Adamawa, was praised by Fintiri for his exceptional contribution to the Falcons’ triumphant campaign at the tournament held in Morocco earlier this year.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, representing the Government and citizens of Adamawa State, has presented Justine Pwanidi Madugu (coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons) with a three-bedroom bungalow and a monetary award of N50 million for successfully guiding the team to victory in the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations held in Morocco this year,” the announcement stated.

The visit occurred shortly after the team’s return from Morocco and a national reception organized by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

During the occasion, each player received an award of $100,000, while Madugu and other members of the technical staff were honored with cash rewards of $50,000, national accolades, and residential properties in recognition of their accomplishments.

The Super Falcons secured the WAFCON title following a dramatic 3-2 comeback win against the host nation Morocco in the final, reinforcing their reputation as the most successful women’s football team on the continent.
