Nigeria has recorded a historic milestone in international aviation with the inauguration of the first-ever direct Air Peace flight from Brazil to Nigeria, facilitated by the recent Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) signed under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The landmark development has been hailed as a symbol of renewed hope and a major step toward repositioning Nigeria on the global stage.
Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), who was aboard the inaugural flight, described the achievement as one that goes beyond aviation, stressing that it has opened a bridge for stronger economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Brazil.
He lauded the efforts of the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his pivotal role in actualizing the initiative, which he said would unlock new opportunities for trade, technology, energy, and cultural exchange.
“For me, this flight is more than a journey across continents; it is a reflection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to reposition Nigeria globally, creating new opportunities while laying the foundation for a brighter future,” Dr. Abdullahi stated.
The development is expected to deepen Nigeria’s international partnerships and enhance connectivity, further boosting the nation’s economic and diplomatic standing.
