President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has written to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, SAN, from Enugu State, as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Ude is to replace Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, who recently resigned as the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

The President’s letter, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary, requested the Senate to give expeditious consideration to the nomination in line with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Dr. Ude, who currently serves as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, was earlier this year elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

His nomination restores Enugu State’s representation in the Federal Executive Council, which became vacant following Nnaji’s resignation amid controversies surrounding his academic credentials.

If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Ude will be sworn in and assigned a portfolio by President Tinubu.

The nomination reflects the administration’s ongoing effort to strengthen its cabinet with competent professionals drawn from across the country.
