…Police Condemn Act, Order Full Investigation

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, following a violent altercation in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Yola, confirming that the suspect was apprehended on November 6, 2025, two days after the incident.

According to Nguroje, the tragedy occurred on November 4, after a misunderstanding between the couple at a beer parlour escalated into violence.

“During the altercation, the suspect reportedly attacked and stabbed the victim multiple times all over her body with a knife and an axe,” the statement said.

Police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Demsa Division, were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.

Her remains have since been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, Nguroje added.

Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, described the act as “unfortunate and unacceptable,” directing the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.

Morris also warned against domestic violence, urging residents to embrace peaceful conflict resolution methods.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring justice is served and that no offender escapes lawful punishment,” he assured.
