The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has said that the recent explosion on the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System in Warri, Delta State, is now under control, and the local communities are safe.

In a statement released on Sunday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, and posted on their official X account on Monday, the company mentioned that the incident was first reported on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

“NNPC Limited is providing an update on the incident reported on Thursday, 11th December 2025, on a section of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System in South West Warri, Delta State,” the statement said.

It added that “coordinated containment measures have been successfully executed, ensuring the safety of host communities, personnel, and the environment,” and that “all relevant pipeline sections have been safely and securely isolated.

It showed that a joint initial check was done at the site, involving NNPC Limited, technical staff from the Nigeria Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, and maintenance contractors. The company said the pipeline operator, NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company, has already started taking action.

“NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company, the operator of the network, has activated its Business Continuity Plan to manage the impact on all affected stakeholders, including shippers and suppliers,” the statement said.

The company talked about how it keeps in touch with the people who matter, saying that “NNPC Ltd keeps talking openly with the local communities, government officials, and other important groups, and thanks them for their ongoing support and teamwork.”

It also said it is still focused on keeping everyone safe, protecting the environment, and making sure everything works well, adding that “it is still dedicated to keeping the communities safe, protecting the environment, and making sure all its operations run smoothly and reliably.”
