Akinwande explained that the agency received a distress call from Alhaji Mufutau Badmus, Saki Branch Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), alerting them to the fire.

He added that firemen, led by Mr. Kolade Taiwo, were immediately mobilized to the scene. “Upon arrival, we discovered that the filling station, a DAF tanker truck carrying 50,000 litres of petrol, a Bajaj motorcycle, and three fuel dispensing pumps were already engulfed in flames,” he said.

Akinwande noted that the fire service personnel successfully extinguished the blaze and prevented it from spreading to nearby properties.

He commended the Ofiki Division personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their prompt presence and for maintaining security during the operation.

The Fire Services chairman urged all filling station owners in the state to strictly adhere to fire safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
