POLICE HUNT GUNMEN WHO KILLED COUPLE IN KEBBI

The Nigeria Police Force is searching for unknown people who killed a couple in Asarara village, Kebbi State.

A spokesperson for the police, Bashir Usman, talked about the incident on Saturday.
He said an investigation is already happening to find out who did it.

He said, “As I speak to you, the bodies are at a hospital in Birnin Kebbi for more checks and tests to find out who was behind this attack.”

He also mentioned that security teams are working on the case and asked people in the area to stay calm and help the investigators.

“We appeal to members of the public to provide any useful information that can assist the police in tracking down those responsible,” he added.

Residents of the community had earlier reported that the victims, identified as Muhammad Haruna and his wife, Habiba Abubakar, were killed in their home at about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the late Muhammad Haruna as a peaceful man.

“He was a quiet person who lived peacefully with everyone. We are all shocked by what happened because nobody can immediately point to any dispute involving him,” the source said.

The incident drew sympathisers to the family compound as news spread across the village.

The couple is survived by six children — four boys and two girls.
