DELTA COMMUNITY SHOCKED AS SON ALLEGEDLY SETS FATHER ON FIRE

Tragedy struck Oghior Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday, as a young man, identified as Saturday Okutu, allegedly set his elderly father, Pa Chicago Okutu, on fire while reportedly under the influence of drugs.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident followed a violent confrontation between the father and son. Sources in the community disclosed that Okutu had allegedly smoked a hard drug locally known as “Colorado” prior to the attack.
The situation escalated quickly, culminating in the suspect allegedly setting the family home on fire, resulting in the untimely death of the elderly man.
The shocking event has left residents in mourning and raised urgent concerns over the growing abuse of hard drugs among youths in local communities.
Moses Uchere, the Immediate Past President General of Oghior Community, condemned the act in an interview with the press, urging swift action to address drug abuse and prevent further loss of life.

Community authorities are reportedly investigating the incident as details continue to emerge. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that he had been contacted but was yet to provide an official statement at the time of reporting.
