The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has reminded employers in the state that the deadline for submitting annual tax returns for the 2025 financial year is 31 January 2026.

In a statement, LIRS Executive Chairman Dr. Ayodele Subair said the reminder aligns with the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025.

He explained that employers must fully declare all employee emoluments and ensure that all relevant taxes are accurately remitted.

Dr. Subair warned that failure to comply would attract statutory penalties, emphasizing that tax filing is a legal obligation, not an optional exercise.

He also noted that all returns must be submitted electronically via the LIRS eTax platform, as manual submissions are no longer accepted.

The LIRS boss encouraged employers to file their returns early, verify the accuracy of employees’ Tax Identification Numbers (TINs), and seek assistance through official LIRS channels if needed.
