SOUTH AFRICA RESTORES POWER TO NIGERIA HIGH COMMISSION AFTER CLEARING DEBT

HOTJIST NEWS
The Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria has had its electricity supply restored after settling outstanding utility debts owed to the City of Tshwane’s efforts in empowerment. Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Nasiphi Moya, announced the reconnection on Monday, thanking the High Commission for paying the debt owed to the municipality.
“We thank the High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for honouring its debt to the city. The city will reconnect electricity,” Moya said.
The power supply to the mission had previously been cut off by the city as a form of enforcement due to unpaid utility bills.

In an earlier post on X (formerly Twitter), Moya confirmed the disconnection.
She stated that the diplomatic mission owed the city for the services provided.
She wrote, “We have disconnected electricity at the High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
They owe the city for utility services,” and shared a photo of the High Commission building.
The power was restored after the Nigerian High Commission paid the outstanding balance, although the mission has not yet issued an official statement regarding this development.
