The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with cattle rustling at Ado-Awaye in Iseyin Local Government Area.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects include Sekooni Wale, 30, the driver of a Mazda bus used in the operation, and Jimoh Toheeb, 25, who served as the motor boy.
Ayanlade explained that the suspects were apprehended following a distress report received by the police from the Ado-Awaye Division.
“On arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the suspects had already loaded two cows into a white Mazda bus with registration number KMA 178 ZY and were in the process of loading three other cows when the police patrol team closed in on them. Sighting the approaching operatives, the hoodlums abandoned the vehicle loaded with the stolen cows and fled into the bush,” he said.
He added that the joint team of police officers and vigilantes found two cattle herders, Ibrahim Musa and Ibrahim Umaru, who had been tied together by the suspects before they fled.
Security operatives immediately launched an intensive bush-combing operation and manhunt, which led to the arrest of Wale and Toheeb.

His arrest subsequently led to the capture of another accomplice, Macho Sindi, 29.

The police said the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation.
