SUSPECTED BANDITS KILL IMMIGRATION OFFICER IN NIGER STATE

Bandits attacked a Nigeria Immigration Service outpost in Balia community, Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, abducting an immigration officer identified as Umar Yusuf.
According to a source, the assailants arrived on motorcycles and launched the raid in broad daylight around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, overpowering the officers stationed at the facility.
The source said the outpost, located along Babanna Road near the Benin Republic border, was targeted during the attack, with the bandits seizing two AK-47 rifles and ammunition from the personnel.
“Babanna Road has over the years become notorious for banditry and terrorist attacks,” the source noted.
He added that in November 2025, two soldiers were killed and several others, including civilians and security operatives, were injured when bandits ambushed a convoy belonging to Jafaru Mohammad Ali Damisa, the member representing Agwara/Borgu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The lawmaker’s convoy was attacked while traveling to Babanna in Borgu around 11 a.m., resulting in casualties among the security personnel assigned to him.
