SELPLAT ENERGY WORKERS SUSPEND STRIKE

Seplat Energy workers stopped their strike just a few hours after it started.
The workers started the strike on Friday because talks about a 2026 collective bargaining agreement and staff welfare issues broke down.
According to Reuters on Friday, the workers had planned to suspend production reports and export activities, but maintain only crucial safety and power functions.
However, on Saturday, Festus Osifo, the president of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), told the media the strike has “been called off”.
Osifo said the strike was suspended after Seplat accepted the collective bargaining agreement.
“Stakeholders intervened and Seplat management agreed to CBA terms that we earlier requested for,” he said.
Only PENGASSAN workers participated in the strike, while less skilled workers affiliated with a different union did not take part. This marks the second strike by PENGASSAN workers in eight months, following their strike action at the Dangote refinery on September 27, 2025.
PENGASSAN embarked on the strike over the dismissal of “over 800 workers” by Dangote refinery, and directed all branches of international oil companies (IOC) to ramp down gas production and supply to Dangote refinery.
The strike was called off on October 1.
