The Federal Government has announced the removal of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as a requirement for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in Colleges of Education.
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, made the announcement on Monday during the 2026 JAMB policy meeting in Abuja.
Under the revised guidelines, applicants will now be required to present a minimum of four O’Level credits in relevant subjects to gain admission into NCE programmes.
According to the minister, the policy is intended to ease the administrative burden on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
