Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has called on the government to take decisive action against terrorists in order to secure schools and the wider society.

Obi made the remarks on Thursday during a visit to Practising Nursery and Primary School in Agulu, Anambra State, where he emphasized the importance of improving the quality of education, saying it remains key to national development.

Responding to questions on how schools can be protected following the kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, Obi said tackling insecurity depends largely on the determination and political will of those in government.

He stressed that both schools and society at large must be secured through firm and decisive leadership.

“We do not only need to secure our schools from insecurity but also the society. And how we can do this is by being decisive,” he said.

Obi added that his experience in government showed that effective security measures were achievable with strong commitment, citing his tenure in Anambra State as an example.

“It needs decisiveness and will power of the people in government for us to defeat them,” he stated.
