AKIM YUSUF EMERGES NDC FLAGBEARER FOR 2027 OYO GOVERNORSHIP RACE

Akim Yusuf, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
Yusuf announced his emergence on Friday, revealing that he was returned unopposed through affirmation by members of the party during the NDC governorship primary in the state.
In a message to supporters following the exercise, the politician expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to intensify efforts ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Good afternoon everyone. I am glad to announce that, this afternoon by affirmation I was returned as the Governorship Candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Oyo State Chapter for the January 2027 general elections,” Yusuf stated.
He thanked party members, supporters and stakeholders for their continued backing, describing his emergence as the beginning of a renewed political journey.
“Thank you so much for your support so far and the work has just started afresh. To God be the glory,” he added.he
Yusuf, who contested the 2023 governorship election under the African Democratic Congress, is expected to lead the NDC into the 2027 governorship contest as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the election season.
His emergence adds to the growing list of aspirants and political figures positioning themselves for the Oyo State governorship race, which is expected to attract significant attention from major political parties and stakeholders across the state.
