AMOTEKUN ARRESTS 21 FOREIGNERS OVER ALLEGED CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES IN ONDO

No fewer than 21 foreign nationals allegedly linked to criminal activities have been arrested by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps.
Describing the situation as troubling, the agency said the suspects—mostly from neighbouring West African countries—had been posing as phone sellers and repairers while living in housing that did not match their apparent economic means.
Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye made the disclosure while parading 53 suspects accused of offences that included kidnapping, murder, cattle rustling and diesel theft.
He noted that the foreigners had operated with the help of local collaborators, among them landlords who rented properties to them without proper documentation.
All 21 foreign suspects have been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.
In a separate case, four people were arrested in Akure North Local Government Area for staging a fake kidnapping and spreading false alarms on social media.
Initial reports indicated a kidnapping had taken place, but investigation showed that one of the people who reported the incident was an accomplice.
The suspect later led officers to the location where the supposed victim had been hiding, confirming the episode was a hoax intended to create panic and extract money.
