ARSENAL THRASH MAN CITY 3-0 TO LIFT 18TH COMMUNITY SHIELD TITLE

Arsenal began the new season in emphatic fashion, defeating Manchester City 3-0 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff to win the Community Shield.
The Gunners made a dream start when Ricardo Calafiori put them ahead just 24 seconds into the match, finishing into the bottom corner after being played through by Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Arsenal maintained the pressure as the game progressed, with summer signing Bruno Guimarães making his first start for the club and quickly impressing with his distribution and tough tackling.
Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal’s advantage around the half-hour mark, heading home after a sharp delivery across goal from another new signing, Christos Tzolis.
Manchester City began to find their rhythm towards the end of the first half, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya produced an excellent save to deny Erling Haaland.
Martin Ødegaard also came close to extending Arsenal’s lead before the interval, only for his effort to be cleared off the line by Josko Gvardiol.
The Arsenal captain eventually got his goal shortly after the restart. After more good work from Tzolis, Ødegaard rounded Gianluigi Donnarumma before firing into the net to make it 3-0 in the 48th minute.
The goal effectively settled the contest, allowing both managers to use the remainder of the match to rotate their squads ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
The victory handed Arsenal a major confidence boost ahead of their league opener against Coventry City, while Manchester City were left with plenty to ponder following a difficult outing under new manager Enzo Maresca.
