Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Arsenal F.C. on winning the English Premier League title, describing the achievement as a testament to resilience, discipline, visionary leadership, and sustained commitment to long-term goals.

In a statement released on Wednesday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku commended the club’s players, coaching staff, and millions of supporters worldwide for what he described as an inspiring and well-deserved accomplishment.

According to Atiku, Arsenal’s emergence as Premier League champions was the result of years of careful rebuilding, strategic planning, consistency, and courageous decision-making.

He noted, “Arsenal’s success was not achieved overnight. It came through years of disciplined planning, rebuilding, and staying focused even during difficult periods. These same values have shaped my approach in public service and business.”

The former presidential candidate compared the club’s transformation under a clear football philosophy to his own vision for Nigeria’s economic and political future, emphasizing the need for institutional reforms, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

Atiku stated that his economic agenda has consistently prioritized private-sector-driven growth, job creation, and restructuring aimed at unlocking national productivity and prosperity.

“Just like a successful football club, a nation must provide an environment where talent flourishes, innovation is encouraged, and excellence is rewarded,” he said.

He added that Nigeria, like Arsenal, must invest heavily in youth development, strengthen institutions, and remain committed to a clear and sustainable strategy for national growth.

Arsenal’s league triumph has sparked celebrations among football fans across the world, especially in Nigeria, where the North London club enjoys a massive following.

Atiku praised Nigerian Arsenal supporters for their unwavering loyalty despite years without major league success, describing their dedication as symbolic of the resilient Nigerian spirit.

“Their loyalty reflects the determination, hope, and resilience that define Nigerians,” he remarked.

Using Arsenal’s victory as a broader lesson, Atiku urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the nation’s future, stressing that meaningful progress requires patience, consistency, courage, and purposeful leadership.

He said the club’s triumph demonstrates that persistence and belief in a clear mission eventually lead to success, adding that his own political journey has been driven by resilience and commitment to national development.

Atiku further expressed optimism that the 2027 elections could usher in a brighter, more prosperous, and inclusive era for Nigeria if the country embraces unity and responsible leadership.

The former vice president also applauded Arsenal’s management for building a competitive team founded on youth development, tactical discipline, and unity of purpose, noting that such principles are equally essential for national transformation.

Looking ahead, Atiku encouraged Arsenal to set their sights on winning the UEFA Champions League, saying the determination and quality that secured the Premier League title could also deliver European success.

He concluded by expressing hope that Arsenal’s achievement would inspire renewed optimism, unity, and purpose among Nigerians at home and abroad.
