Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, and his wife, Anjy Luminee, have welcomed a baby boy, a development that has generated mixed reactions across social media.
The couple announced the birth of their son on Tuesday, receiving an outpouring of congratulatory messages from colleagues, fans and well-wishers.
However, the announcement also revived public discussions surrounding Baba Ijesha’s past legal controversy, with opinions sharply divided online.
Among those who reacted was social media personality Bobrisky, whose congratulatory message drew criticism from some users. Actress Moyo Lawal also came under fire after extending her congratulations, with critics questioning her support for the couple.
Others defended the actress, arguing that offering goodwill to new parents should not attract backlash.
Reality TV star Angel Smith expressed surprise at Luminee’s decision to remain married to Baba Ijesha despite the controversy linked to his past conviction. Social commentator Daniel Regha shared a similar view, suggesting that Luminee should have ended the marriage following the actor’s sentencing.
Despite the criticism, several celebrities joined in celebrating the couple’s new arrival. Actor Yomi Fabiyi, actress Olayinka Solomon and other supporters sent congratulatory messages and best wishes to the family.
The announcement has continued to spark debate online, with some social media users focusing on the couple’s growing family, while others remain concerned about the actor’s past.
Baba Ijesha was convicted by a Lagos State High Court in 2022 over the sexual assault of a minor and sentenced to 16 years in prison. However, the Court of Appeal later overturned the conviction, leading to his release in November 2025.
