Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that the Accord in the state will support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, describing the President as a son of Osun State.

Adeleke made the declaration on Tuesday at Freedom Park, Osogbo, during the official launch of his re-election campaign, the reception of more than 10,000 defectors from the APC, ADC and other political parties, as well as the endorsement ceremony by over 200 groups, unions and associations.

Among those who joined the Accord were three former Osun commissioners, a former special adviser and several APC stalwarts. Notable defectors include former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal; former Commissioner for Political Affairs, Taiwo Akeju; former Commissioner for Education, Folorunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi; and former Special Adviser, Jamiu Olawumi, alongside other former government appointees and ex-members of the State House of Assembly.

Welcoming the new members, Adeleke described the Accord as their political home and expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the August 15 governorship election.

The governor also highlighted what he described as his administration’s economic achievements, citing improvements recognised by the Debt Management Office. He added that his re-election campaign would be driven by a five-point agenda aimed at consolidating development across the state.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to peace, Adeleke cautioned against violence, stressing that Osun must not return to an era of unrest.

“Osun must not go back to the dark age. Osun is the cradle of the Yoruba nation and, by the grace of God, tranquility must prevail,” he said.

“We reject violence. Go out and campaign for the party. Accord will be on the ballot. Be rest assured that we will vote and our votes will count on August 15.”
