BREAKING: 11 REPORTEDLY KILLED AS BOKO HARAM ATTACKS ADAMAWA VILLAGE

Eleven people were reportedly killed on Monday when suspected Boko Haram insurgents invaded Zaranga village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

A resident of the community, who spoke with reporters by phone but requested anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to journalists, said the attackers invaded the village in the early hours of Monday.

According to him, the insurgents opened fire and set houses ablaze during the attack.

“For now, 11 dead bodies have been recovered. Many people are still missing. Search teams and security personnel are in the forest searching for the missing people,” the resident said.

Another resident confirmed the deaths, saying his wife and two other family members were among those killed during the attack.

“My wife and two of my family members were also killed during the early morning invasion of my village,” he said.

The reported attack has left several residents missing, with search teams and security personnel said to be combing surrounding forests for possible survivors and victims.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Adamawa State Police Command were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, was contacted several times for confirmation but did not respond to calls.

As of press time, the police had yet to officially confirm the attack, the casualty figure or the identity of the attackers.
