BREAKING: WAEC RELEASES 2026 WASSCE RESULTS, 61.54% OBTAIN FIVE CREDITS INCLUDING ENGLISH AND MATHEMATICS

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.

The examination body announced the release on Wednesday through its official X account, confirming that candidates can now access their results.

According to WAEC, 1,950,726 candidates sat for the examination, with 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtaining credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Candidates are required to generate a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and serial number on the WAEC portal before checking their results on the council’s result-checking platform.

The result-checking process requires candidates to provide their examination number, National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration and other details for verification.

The 2026 WASSCE was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with about 1.96 million candidates participating across more than 24,200 secondary schools nationwide.

While most candidates wrote the examination using the traditional pen-and-paper format, WAEC recorded a significant increase in the number of schools that adopted the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) option compared to previous years.

The council had earlier indicated that the results would be released approximately 45 days after the conclusion of the examination.
