COURT AFFIRMS AROBO AS APC HOUSE OF REPS CANDIDATE FOR OWO/OSE CONSTITUENCY

A Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed Abdulghani Arobo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat in Ondo State.
Justice Peter Lifu delivered the judgment on Wednesday in a suit filed by Arobo against the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the party’s primary election conducted on May 16, 2026.
The court held that Arobo validly won the APC primary after securing the majority of lawful votes cast across the 23 wards in the constituency.
Justice Lifu ruled that Arobo was entitled to be declared the lawful winner of the primary election and should be recognised as the APC candidate for the forthcoming general elections.
The court ordered the APC and INEC to recognise and deal exclusively with Arobo as the party’s candidate, noting that he polled 7,959 votes in Owo Local Government Area and 2,583 votes in Ose Local Government Area during the primary.
The judge also nullified any previous declaration or nomination made by the APC in favour of any other aspirant for the constituency.
Justice Lifu resolved all the issues raised by the plaintiff in his favour and directed the APC to immediately forward Arobo’s name to INEC as its candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency House of Representatives election.
The court further restrained both the APC and INEC from recognising or dealing with any other individual as the party’s candidate for the constituency.
In addition, the judge ordered INEC to reopen its nomination portal to enable the upload of Arobo’s name as the duly nominated APC candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat in Ondo State.
