FAMILY DEBUNKS CLAIMS TOPE OSOBA DIED OF CANCER

The family of late Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has debunked reports claiming she died of cancer.
The media reported that the actress passed away on Tuesday evening, shortly after speaking with some of her colleagues on the phone and updating her WhatsApp status with the message, “Ogo Tuntun,” meaning “New Glory.”
Her death came nearly two years after she appealed to the public for financial support to undergo breast cancer surgery and treatment, prompting speculation that the illness was responsible for her passing.
However, in a statement shared on Osoba’s official Instagram page on Thursday, her family dismissed the claims, insisting that the actress did not die from cancer.
While withholding the actual cause of death, the family described the reports circulating on social media and blogs as false, speculative and unauthorised.
“We are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved. At this difficult time, we wish to categorically state that the numerous claims circulating on social media and various blogs regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are false, speculative and entirely unauthorised,” the statement read.
The family urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation, saying it only deepens their grief, and added that further updates would be communicated through the actress’s official social media page.
