FIFA BOSS INFANTINO TO APPEAR BEFORE US HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE OVER TRUMP-ERA TIES

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been summoned to appear before the US House Judiciary Committee as part of an investigation into the world football governing body’s relationship with President Donald Trump’s administration.
The probe was initiated by the committee’s ranking Democrat, Jamie Raskin, who, in a letter dated Sunday, requested documents detailing interactions between FIFA and the Trump administration.
According to The Athletic, Raskin is seeking records of any items of value—including money, gifts, awards, prizes or public appearances—provided by FIFA to President Trump, members of his administration, their family members, or entities linked to them, including the Trump Organization.
The relationship between Infantino and Trump came under intense scrutiny during the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the US president reportedly contacted the FIFA chief to request a review of the suspension handed to United States forward Folarin Balogun ahead of the Round of 16 clash against Belgium.
FIFA later cleared Balogun to feature in the match, maintaining that the decision was reached independently.
