FINTIRI DECLARES ADAMAWA’S NEW NYSC CAMP READY FOR NEXT ORIENTATION EXERCISE

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has assured that the state’s permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp will be ready to receive the next batch of corps members.
The governor gave the assurance on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II corps members at Damare in Girei Local Government Area.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos, Fintiri said construction of the permanent orientation camp was at an advanced stage and expressed confidence that future batches would begin their orientation exercises at the new facility.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, promising the continued payment of the state’s monthly ₦30,000 allowance to those serving in Adamawa.
The governor noted that the state government would sustain its support for the NYSC scheme in recognition of the valuable contributions corps members make to sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture and community development.
Fintiri urged the corps members to be law-abiding, respect the customs and traditions of their host communities and promote peaceful coexistence throughout their service year.
He also encouraged them to initiate meaningful community development projects that would positively impact the lives of residents in their places of primary assignment.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the Adamawa NYSC Governing Board, Wali Yakubu, congratulated the corps members on their successful mobilisation.
Yakubu advised them to participate actively in all camp activities, embrace Nigeria’s cultural diversity and build lasting relationships across ethnic and religious lines.
He assured them of the state government’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive environment throughout their service year.
Earlier, the Adamawa State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Caroline Chinedu, disclosed that 1,520 corps members—comprising 779 males and 741 females—had registered for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation exercise.
She commended the corps members for their discipline and enthusiasm since the commencement of the orientation programme but appealed to the state government to urgently address the persistent electricity challenges at the camp.
According to her, the heavy reliance on generators has negatively affected water supply, sanitation and other essential services at the temporary orientation facility.
The oath of allegiance was administered to the corps members by Justice Abbas Adamu, representing the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, formally inaugurating the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation course in the state.
