FUBARA: LEGACY PROJECTS WILL HELP APC WIN RIVERS ELECTIONS

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said the delivery of legacy projects by his administration will strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s chances in the forthcoming general elections.
Fubara said APC candidates would be able to campaign on the achievements of his administration, particularly the infrastructure projects delivered at the grassroots.
The governor made the remarks on Wednesday while inaugurating the 14.5-kilometre Agba-Ndele Road and a 239.4-metre bridge linking communities in Emohua and Abua/Odual Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
He said the projects, alongside other recently completed infrastructure, would provide tangible evidence of the APC administration’s performance and make it easier for its candidates to connect with voters.
According to Fubara, the projects would give APC candidates something concrete to present to residents during campaigns.
He explained that the road and bridge were part of efforts to extend development to rural communities and ease the difficulties faced by residents using the old Abua Road, which had been in poor condition and caused lengthy travel times.
Fubara stressed that his administration was focused on projects that would have a direct impact on residents rather than simply executing projects for the sake of it.
He said the bridge was initiated by a previous administration but that completing it was necessary because of its benefits to the people.
The governor described governance as a relay race in which successive administrations should complete projects that serve the public, regardless of who initiated them.
He urged the chairmen of Emohua and Abua/Odual LGAs, Chidi Lloyd and Owolobi Michael Ofori, to protect government infrastructure in their areas.
He also appealed to residents, youth groups and traditional rulers in Agba-Ndele and neighbouring communities to safeguard the road and bridge against vandalism.
Commissioner for Works, Prof. Temple Nwofor, said the road measured 14.5 kilometres, while the bridge was 239.4 metres long and 10.3 metres wide, with 1.5-metre walkways on both sides.
The project also includes a 1.2-kilometre access road and drainage infrastructure.
